g&A studios was an artist-run initiative based in a large derelict warehouse space in Sydney’s centrally located suburb, Surrey Hills, a former industrial textile workroom. We opened its doors in early 2005 and closed them at the end of 2006 with its irrevocable Disappearing Act–.

As co-founder and co-director of g&A studios, during its lifespan, I contributed to hosting, curating and coordinating approximately 15 group and solo exhibitions and performances, screenings, dinners, reading rooms, and a book launch. The exhibitions ranged from the inaugural solo exhibition ‘MoMA Moments’, by then Magnum Photos President Thomas Hoepker, to larger group exhibitions such as ‘The Drawing Show I & II’ including over 40 artists. Exhibitions explored issues ranging from access, control, labour, perception and modes of display.

Exhibited Artists include Ernest Aaron, AC4CA, Brit Bunkley, Melissa Coote, Sarah crowEST, gretchen geraets, Stephen Gill, Billy Gruner, Christopher Hanrahan, Thomas Hoepker, Simon Horsburgh, Bronia Iwanczak, Anthony Johnson, Philip Julian, Melanie Khava, Ruark Lewis, Maria Miranda + Norie Neumark, Catherine Martin, Michael Moran, Pat Naldi, Kate Smith and Suzanne Treister among others.
